The Goa Food & Cultural Festival 2017 will be held from May 10 to May 14 at the D B Bandodkar Ground, Campal, Panaji.
Goa Tourism Development Corporation in association with Department of Tourism, Govt of Goa organizes this festival every year to showcase the unique culinary aspect of Goa and the Goan culture and traditions through various programs and performances.
There will be performances from national level rock bands like The Local Train from Delhi, Antariskh from Delhi, Lagori from Bangalore, Bombay Bassment from Mumbai and Bad Blood from Goa to cater to tourists as they holiday here in Goa. Not much of tradition in that, but still, it’s fun.
Local giants in entertainment like Lorna, Sonia Shirsat, Joe D’Costa and others will also be performing.
The festival will also feature Feni and will have a live distillation unit on site to educate and inform tourists about the Feni making process. Some of the best chilled concoctions will be created in order to beat the heat with an array of local distillers creating innovative beverages. Should be interesting unless it is shut down by anti-liquor activist groups who generally rain on the any festival parade if booze is sold at the venue.
There will be stalls selling arts and crafts and a cooking competition will be held on 14 May and prizes will be given out to the best creations that will pass the presentation and taste test.
Some of Goa’s best restaurateurs will be serving authentic Goan cuisine that will range from exotic seafood to mouth watering deserts. This is one festival where mouthwatering beef dishes will be served. Unless it is stopped by the gau rakshas.
This year, the highlight of this festival will be the mammoth stage that will feature a huge LED wall promising a visual treat.
The sound & lights is being designed and managed by India’s best Sound Engineer Roger Drego who has worked for International stars like Jlo, Shakira and Michael Jackson in the past.
Michael Nazareth will design the lighting for the festival.
