A body blow to thieving private hospitals

DR FRANCISCO COLACO  |  It is really to appreciate that the Regulatory Authority in India is all set to monitor the price of coronary stents. Corporate hospitals made a windfall with kickbacks charging stents procured at Rs. 35,000/= , Rs. 1.5 lakhs or more swindling poor patients who thus far were silent victims. This will make swindlers fall in line. It will also mean no kickbacks to doctors, no free foreign jaunts.

One feels also sad to know that it has come at last into the open that PVT hospitals reuse disposable catheters and guidewires meant for single use and make u pay for them.

All this is a blot on a profession that swears by the Hippocratic oath and is akin to priesthood
